Tomorrow is THE big day so what better way to celebrate that than a wedding blog?! We decided to go this route instead of a wedding website because…why not?! Although I neglect my blog, it’s my labor of love and my own little corner of the World Wide Web. Though this is typed in first person by yours truly, Art is sitting right next to me – laughing and giving his input…as per usual.

OUR STORY

We met on New Year’s Eve of 2010. Art lived in Jacksonville, Florida at the time, and I lived in Atlanta, Georgia. We were both in Augusta, GA to spend time with family and friends for the holidays. We went to rival high schools and the same college for 3 years, but we never really spoke or hung out…until that NYE. Our friends suggested that we keep in touch since Art would be moving to Atlanta for grad school.

Those same friends traveled to Atlanta later in January, and we all met up and hung out again. This became the routine until Art & I started meeting up without said friends – insert grin. For almost a year, we hung out as JUST friends. In fact, when anyone would suggest something more we’d write it off in fear of ruining such a solid friendship. We talked about everything, met each other during winter storms for breakfast, took me to my first NBA game, celebrated birthdays, etc. -ALLLL AS FRIENDS. As time went on, it became blatantly obvious that there was waaaaay more there.  In the past 7 years, we’ve been through SO many highs and lows together. We’ve both grown in all areas of our lives, and we’ve been able to do this as best friends. Common theme here? FRIENDSHIP & LOVE! Here we are 7 years later, ready to commit and celebrate the “beginning” of what we think is the greatest love story!

THE PROPOSAL

Me being the control freak   planner that likes to be in the know, I’d been trying to map out the perfect proposal for a couple of years, but one day I casually told Art that I wanted to be surprised. I wanted it to be just the two of us on a regular day because anything more would be a dead give away. Art having the photographic memory   being as attentive as he is, he decided to do just what was suggested. He planned out a romantic staycation in downtown Atlanta to celebrate my 29th birthday. We had dinner at my favorite place, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, went on a horse and carriage ride through the city, and went out dancing (no, we literally sang & DANCED all night). I just KNEW at any moment our families would pop out at every single place. I even Facetimed with my mom in hopes to see where she was..but NOPE. On the last day (October 10th, 2016) of our staycation, we walked the BeltLine around Ponce City Market.

Once the staycation was over and we were sweaty and exhausted – Art came in the room I’d passed out in and said “Man. This was a REALLLLLY good weekend! Do you know what would make this weekend even better?!” My response “Hmmm…ICE CREAM?!” We laughed and out of what felt like no where….. Art got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. The proposal might have came as a shock, but I always knew that we’d be together forever. As much of a hopeless romantic as I am, I never genuinely believed in soulmates until I met Art.  Two people couldn’t be more of a match than the two of us – we’ve never been able to deny that.

DEETS

We will be getting married in the heart of downtown Atlanta at The Piedmont Room at Park Tavern at 6:30pm on Friday, June 9, 2017.

This is an adults only affair.

Semi-formal attire is suggested.

Our preference is a cash gift, but we are registered at Bed Bath & Beyond (Farrahn and Arthur)

Dinner and drinks will be served at the reception. We are suggesting that everyone Uber! 🙂

As stated above, this wedding has been anticipated by quite a few people for a while now – we are thrilled to finally “turn up” with everyone.

More than anything we want our wedding day to be one funnnn celebration! We really appreciate all of the things that SO many people have done to attend and celebrate our union. The day isn’t even here yet, and we’re already so overwhelmed with gratitude! We have SO much love for everyone that will be in attendance!!!!

Becoming Farrahn T

Personal

The Hongs have been sticking with Farrahn E. Photography since the beginning. I mean…you know that’s true when you’ve got a shoot together from the infamous Augusta train tracks on The Riverwalk. Please don’t judge! I just adore this family so much. They’re loving and super honest. I witnessed their marriage and photographed Heston’s newborn pics. They’ve really become friends, and it has truly been a pleasure and an honor capturing their family’s growth and beauty over the years. This shoot may very well be one of our most memorable shoots – not only did Heston continuously point at me while aggressively telling me “NO!” to pictures, but he ran from us, rolled his eyes, and gave me the death stare for majority of their shoot. I actually found this quite amusing and figured he’d have to learn sooner or later that I don’t give up easily. Hehe! Another thing that makes this shoot very special and hopefully near and dear to their hearts is that we added a verrrry sweet and funny couple to the mix this year. Without going into too much detail, I will just say that Jin’s aunt and uncle joined us, and his aunt pulled me aside as I was giving them directions at one point and told me “You gotta make this a really good one for me!”. The entire time I edited their pictures, I kept thinking about my grandma and grandpa and how much their relationship paralleled this couple’s relationship. I kept wishing I’d taken them in the backyard and gotten some special pictures like these. I think it’s amazing that Hanna thought to do this, and I hope they’re family loves these images as much as I do!

The Hong Family | Atlanta Family Photographer

Family

I’m SOOO excited to be back on my dear old blog. It’s been over a year, and I have photographed so many beautiful families and sweet little babies. As many of you know, I was a full time third grade teacher last year (still teaching – second grade teacher this year ). Something had to give in order for me to keep my sanity…and that something ended up being my blog.

Last school year, I also decided to only accept shoots that I was comfortable with and that happened to be maternity, families, and children. I still found myself reading wedding blogs…….and sobbing. That love for documentation paired with me being a big ball of emotions is what drives me when it comes to photography. I decided to take a class on engagement shoots and weddings this summer. I wanted to challenge myself and really grow as a photographer. For my class, I had an assignment that required me to simply capture the happiness and love between two people. Soooo…I posted a model call. I was so happy with the response to the model call, but ONE response in particular left me soooo excited!

If you’ve ever asked me what drew me to photography or what inspired me to start a business..with no formal training – I probably mentioned The Barnetts. In fact, I wrote about them in my “meet the artist” page on this website (I should probably update that because it’s been a few years now – Hehe!). Christan was a classmate my freshmen year at ASU, and I always admired her. At the time, she was a single mom, and she was always so bubbly and encouraging. I literally didn’t think there was anything she couldn’t do with a smile and style. I watched her become engaged to a guy that she always spoke so highly of, married, and then pregnant with her second baby. Someone posted black and white photos of her newborn  in the hospital, and I just sat at my computer crying my eyes out. I felt a bit silly after a while because we were juuuust classmates, but I felt so moved and so encouraged by her story and her faith. I thought about what a blessing and privilege it would be to freeze/document these MAJOR moments for beautiful families. I reached out to her photographer, and to my surprise she responded with a very detailed email suggesting lenses and several other starter tips. She also suggested shadowing with a photographer and that’s what made me reach out to Craig (the wedding photographer that I used to second shoot with).

Anyway, fast forward 8 or so years – Christan and David have been happily married, and they now have three beautiful children. Prior to their shoot, they had no idea how they inspired my business. Working with them made this shoot so special. It became much more than just an assignment – after all of these years – still in love, still inspiring… and in front of MY camera…finally. It was just what I needed to get back on this blog.

Enjoy! XO.

God bless the couple that dances on demand and looks this good doing it.

This is them giving me…SERIOUS. Haha!

Needless to say, I enjoyed this shoot, and I’m ecstatic about expanding my brand and welcoming couples!

Thanks for looking! 😉

The Blog is Baaaack…with The Barnetts!

Engagement

There are many things that I love more than repeat clients, especially when they’re old friends! Laura and Jeremy are cool, but the excitement stems from knowing I’ll be working with their little Cady…sorry guys! Lol! We’ve done a birth, a newborn, and now a family/8 month old shoot together. It’s been great watching little Cady grow and also watchingLaura improve with her own pictures. If it’s one thing I know about Laura, it’s that she’s ambitious so it’s only a matter of time before she’s an amazing mom-tog. 😉  I love that Laura is just as into keeping these memories in the form of pictures as I am. I’m actually trying to persuade her to start “memory keeping” via Project Life now. LOL! I don’t want to go on a tangent so that’ll have to be in another post. Enjoy The Polack’s most recent shoot.

I think Cady was going with the serious look here. Lol!

You’d probably give the same expression if you saw the ridiculousness that myself and parents reduce to in an effort to get those smiles from time to time. LOL!

FAVE.

I think the hat was for laughs, but I ended up thinking it was soooo adorable.

I’m not quite sure that she agreed with the whole hat thing. Lol!

So adorable!

Thanks for looking!

The Polack Family – Take 3

Family

I’m happy to finally be here (on the blog), sharing THIS family’s photos…I believe Que was one of the first to compliment my work and to tell me that I would be doing her family photos one day. Fast forward a couple of years, and we fiiiinally made it happen! YAY! Not only did I have the pleasure of “shooting” her family, but I was one of the first to find out the gender of their new baby…After two super cute and cool boys…there’s a BABY GIRL on the way! Eeek! So excited for this beautiful family! I pray that this will not be the first and last time that I get them in front of my camera 😉

I think the right pic pretty is pretty accurate as far as how they feel about a little sister coming along. 🙂

Her name will be J-O-L-I

They were giving me quick smiles because they wanted the PINK paint OFF of them! LOL!

One of my all-time favorite maternity shots!!!

Finally throwing a little pink in the mix!

Congrats to the Butler Family! I really can’t wait to see her!
