I’d been praying for a few things pertaining to this session 1. The weather would work with us and 2. The Vanderpool dogs treat me kindly! I guess you can say everything went accordingly except for the fact that it was a pretttttty chilly day. Somehow we still managed to get some beautiful smiles from the little ones…and they were definitely a treat to work with!

I’m used to working with small dogs, but they made sure they treated me well. I’m glad we were able to include their fur babies!

Baby E’s big smiles just warm my little heart.

Such a little lady.

Thanks for looking!

This family needs no introduction. Missed the window for a maternity shoot and the birth of Hailey so we got together for Hailey’s newborn pictures. SO happy with the results. I’m falling more and more with newborns!

The god kids and their mom came up one weekend…sporting their Christmas presents from me. We missed the opportunity over Christmas so we made up for it in Atlanta! Thank God for 70 degree Georgia weather during the winter!!! We had to work quickly so I didn’t get as many as normal, but I love what we were able to get. I can’t wait to print these shots of my babies!

& if you’re wondering why I have a few more of MJ than Roman, it’s because he was not interested in me or my big camera. MJ on the other hand, she thinks she’s a model.

Thanks for looking!!!

When it’s all said and done I’ll have beautiful canvases set up in my home of these beauties, and it can never be said that MY god kids don’t have more than enough great quality pictures from their childhood. You shouldn’t get in the habit of taking pictures strictly to post on social networks. I made the mistake of posting pics from MJ’s younger days on my myspace and never printing or backing them up. They’re GONE :(. I’ve also lost memory cards…and left social networks forgetting to grab pics. Sometimes even when you do take pics from these sites the quality of the pics are shattered because they’re lower resolution. People, take your kids to get pics or find a photographer…print & back up your images. If you’re working with me you should order prints, and I always always put your edited images on a disc or flash drive! 😉 Now I print, back up on external hard drive & an online external drive (in case of loss, fire, or theft). I am completely covered!

I guess I can spare you the long drawn out post where I gush about how much I love these three and how my life is so much better because of them. I don’t really need to tell you that no matter how tired I am because of other sessions or school…that I ALWAYS make time to pull my camera out and chase these kids around. I knoooow I don’t have to tell you that I get super excited and more often than not emotional by the time I’m done editing because the kids are growing up way too fast. Yeah, I am pretty sure you know them well by now and how much they mean to me so I’ll just let you see the pics from their latest (fall 2012) pics.

MJ & Roman Fall 2012 Pics

Siblings

Eeek! I’m just SO excited to share these precious photos. They truly are just THAT for me. If you read my about me section then you know that birth/lifestyle photography is what tugged at my heart strings in terms of photography. An old classmate had a baby and I found myself sitting at the computer, a big ball of tears and emotions by the last picture. It wasn’t that I had baby fever…AT ALL. Just something about new life. The entire process. How teeny tiny they are…and how quickly that changes. The thought of “freezing time” and capturing someone’s first few days of life…crazy exciting! If I somehow stumbled into millions and you asked me what I’d do. I’d probably quit school (yes, I’d absolutely become a college drop out) and open a newborn portrait studio.

This was my first try at it and it was aaamazing. Most of the credit must go to Taylor. She was a dream baby…and she is beautiful. I prepared and thought for months about what this session would be like and what the outcome would be, but it was much more than I envisioned. I’m glad that she was my first, but definitely a very tough act to follow up!

This was at the beginning of the session. Here is god mommy Cici spoiling Taylor already!

For the love of crafting and all things DIY, we (as in me and Ciera) dyed cheesecloth to make her wrap and we also made all but one of the hats that are in this post.

My favorite “look”/hat that we created. I’m looking forward to more newborn sessions and making things like this.

I love the details. Look at those perfect little lips!

He gave me a hard time behind the scenes initially but big brother came around for us at the end. 🙂

She really thought I was going to let her go the entire shoot and not get in at least one photo. Once again Ciera was to the rescue and helped put Nichelle together. If one of your kids is doing a photo shoot with me you might as well prepare because I’m going to try to convince you to join in. It’s all about the memories! I love old adolescent pics of me and my brother with my mom.

Nichelle had Taylor’s big sister come over for the photo shoot…and she was SO adorable, mature, and helpful.
