It’s been far too long since I have blogged. šŸ™ I said to my boyfriend the other day, “Idk how I’m even still getting hits or inquiries from my site. I haven’t been present on there in months.”Ā I’ve tried my best to at least post sneak peeks on my Instagram and FB business page, but my poor blog has been a little neglected. I just have to be honest with you all…and myself. I have 21 kiddos now, and I HAVE BEEN DOWN RIGHT BUSY AND EXHAUSTED. I’M TALKIN’ FALLING ASLEEP AT 8PM EXHAUSTED. I started a new teaching position, and I’ve just gotten to the point where I can dedicate a little more time to photography again. Farrahn E. Photography is definitely still shooting. Lol! Before I post any new things, I want to share a few family sessions from the past holiday rush. First up, is Hanna & Jin’s family session!!!

I’m just sooo pleased with how this shoot turned out. I felt bad before we showed up for it because I knew it was going to be a cold day, but the girls were such great sports throughout the entire shoot. They are at my favorite age, they are old enough to know what’s going on, but young enough to not really care about the camera being pointed at them. Lol! They completely did their own thing for the camera and I LOVEEED that!!!

I’m so glad that we decided to not let the crazy weather stop this shoot from happening. It felt weird that this was my first time actually meeting Hanna because I feel like I’ve truly known her for a while, thanks to conversing via social networks and emailing for some time. & Hanna, let me just say that I have watched you from afar. You’ve handle a situation that would have completely broken most women. You’ve handled it with so much strength, class, and grace. In this year you’ve taught me so much about moving forward and not letting anything keep you down too long…and you didn’t even know it! I hope that we have started something here, and you’ll trust me to capture many many maaany more memories for you & Jin.

Again, I never wanted to go the railroad tracks route, but my goodness it really works! LOL!

What a beautiful family!

One of my favorite sibling shots…EVER.

Gorgeous!

My first album will be coming up soon and featuring this family. So stay tuned!

Thanks for looking!

Family

That amazing person happens to be MY mommy! I’m always on a social network talking about how much my mom means to me, and I don’t mean to gloat or be annoying, but I just love and appreciate my mom SO SO SO very much. So often we see people running to their social networks to vent about their parents or giving them credit only on special occasions. I know that each day we have with our loved ones is a blessing, and I do not take that for granted. Is every day perfect with us? Uh. NO! but there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t end with … “I love you, mom.”

Anyway, I’m going to try not to sit here and sob or write a book about my mom, but I just want to acknowledge her birthday on my small space on the web. My mom has been through SO much in life that when her book comes out, I’m sure she’ll be a top seller (Go, mom!). I’m always extremely thankful on her birthday that God has given her the strength another year to continue being the “hard fighting soldier on this battlefield” that she is!

I’m excited to see what this year has in store for you, my love!

SN: These are the pictures I took for my mom’s audition. She just needed a headshot, but we turned it into a little mini shoot. šŸ˜‰

Happy Birthday to the most amazing person I know!

Portraits

You might remember a few of these faces from a maternity shoot I shared a few months back. If you didn’t check that shoot out, Casey is one of my closest friend’s sister. ChloĆ©Ā  isĀ  was the little lady in waiting. I had absolutely noooo idea that Casey was interested in birth pictures. I’ve been trying not to put any pressure on any of my friends or their family in regards to birth photography so I’m not even sure that I ever asked. So again, I was shocked and thrilled when Ciera called and asked if I’d take these pictures for her sister. I believe my response was, “Wait. CASEY’S IN LABOR?! OF COOOOURSE, I’ll do it!!!! PLEASE MAKE SURE THIS IS WHAT SHE WANTS!!!” ChloĆ© decided to make her grand entrance into this world a tad earlier than we’d all expected.

Now, I’m learning more and more that EVERY. SINGLE. EXPERIENCE. will be different. These experiences through photography have truly changed my outlook on life in so many ways. Prior to this day, I witnessed 4 precious babies come into this world. Besides intense pain and pressure at times, they’ve all gone pretty smoothly. I thought…”I could pretty much deliver a baby myself at this point”, but boy was I wrong. It’s not that I didn’t know this all along, but being there for this birth truly made me realize that if nothing else, we should always honor and respect our mothers. From day one a mother makes sacrifices for her baby, even if she doesn’t realize she is. We should appreciate our lives and new life because it is just so so sooo precious. Without going into TOO much detail, I’ll just say that I’m really thankful that Casey had the doctor she had because things did not go according to “plan”, but her doctor remained calm, delivered Casey’s baby via c-section instead of the plan that started out that day, and saved Casey’s life. Wait. Let me give ChloĆ© credit as well. The doctor said that “ChloĆ©’s refusal to come through pushing saved Casey’s life. Had she been delivered as planned, Casey wouldn’t have made it.” The doctors thought that they would have to resuscitate the baby when she made it here, but she came out perfect. šŸ™‚ What an amazing birth story that Casey and ChloĆ© will always have. Little angel baby.

Yep. She was born on THE 4th of July. “Doodle Bug”. So glad they decided against changing her middle name to something related to the holiday. LOL!

HUGE contractions. We were minutes away from “show time”.

Lol! I just love Mrs. Sally!

Ciera’s such a nurturing and supportive sister and friend. Nope, can’t tell at all that she’s working in the medical field. LOL!

Tron’s mom (one of ChloĆ©’s grandmothers) waiting anxiously & Tron catching up on sleep.

So ready to love on her granddaughter. So sweet!

It was time….

As scared as everyone became…Casey’s support system tried not to let her see any type of panic and kept holding her hand and telling her all of the things she needed to hear at the time.

The last picture I got before things got to the point where I had to stop taking pictures and Casey had to be taken away to deliver the baby through c-section.Ā

A little while later,…in walks this proud dad.
I hate that I don’t have any more pictures from this special day with Casey in them, but I am very happy that she can experience those first moments that everyone saw her baby girl through these photos.

Kisses anyone?

Look at these looks. PURE LOVE.

The woman that came in on her anniversary to MAKE SURE that Casey had a safe delivery. I know this family is forever grateful.Ā

aaaand a few newborn shots.

Baby ChloĆ©’s Birth Story | Augusta Birth Photographer

Newborn

Hello family and friends (whether you are current or a soon to be friend)!

Ah. It just feels good to be here, present on my trusty little blog. As you can imagine, this last semester has been hectic. Iā€™m pleased that I did not have to COMPLETELY abandon photography. I was able to meet with a few families for sessions. The Burnettā€™s were one of the first for 2013. We met for their maternity pics in January. Then, I had the pleasure of meeting with them at their home in March for a newborn session with their first baby girl, Sofia Grace.

One thing I have come to learn about newborn photography is that you MUST be patient. Iā€™ve worked with about five newborns at this point, and I have only had one sleep the session away. Anyway, little Sofia let me know immediately that she was running the show in this home, at least for now. LOL! Her mom has these super cute headbands, and I had these super cute poses and ideas, but after sheā€™d had enough she definitely let us know! I think thatā€™s what I love about newborns, in a way they are predictable and then again they arenā€™t. Although theyā€™re all so tiny and adorable and you know they wont be running away from ya, you still never know exactly what youā€™ll get!

It was great getting to work with the same family for these MAJOR MAJOR happenings in their lives.

I just love shooting during this time of the day. The “golden hour” light is pure perfection. It never disappoints and compliments my beautiful clients so well.

and then fast forward a couple of months… šŸ˜€

I love it when I catch them stretching out. So cute!

I have decided to offer announcement cards as an additional printing option. For pricing details please check out my Investment page.

Thanks for looking!

Burnett Family Maternity & Newborn Session

Once again photography is linking me to old buddies! Vy and I went to high school together, and I hadnā€™t seen or heard from her since I moved to Atlanta. How awesome is it that she has been a fan of my work! She found Romanā€™s Cake Smash (link), and decided that her little Jada had to have something similar.

Iā€™m not sure why, but for some reason I just knew that Jada would be a little diva or not into the cake smash, but I couldnā€™t have been more wrong. OMG! She had so much personality and looooved the cake. She was not shy and timid like I assumed sheā€™d be. I LOVE cake smash sessions, but Iā€™m even more excited about a follow up family shoot that Vy and I have already started talking about!!!
